London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

We conduct world class medical research projects. We diagnose and treat thousands of people with epilepsy every year. We do this and much more. We are the UK’s national medical epilepsy charity. With Epilepsy Society, you don’t have to deal with epilepsy alone.

Story

Sean Nelis will all be running the London Marathon on October 2nd 2022 (formerly April 2020!)

Charles has deferred until April 2023.

John unfortunately has had to drop out.

We're taking on the 26.2 mile running challenge, and dedicating days, weeks and months (and now years!!) of fundraising and training in memory of Olivia Kelly and to raise money to battle epilepsy on her behalf for Epilepsy Society.

We've each written more about why we want to do this below.

Sean:

Missing my sister, Liv, is difficult every day. Running started as a way of therapy - making it hurt on the outside as well as the inside, to think about Olivia and to get my head together - but seems to have turned into a way to raise some money for a cause which is obviously very close to our hearts.

Giving whatever you can will help immensely and spur us on. It's a big target and I'll be adding to it myself too.

John:

Our daughter Olivia Kelly, died from an epilepsy related incident on the 22nd of July 2017 a few days after her 21st birthday.

We miss her every day, as do her two girls Mia and Amy, and everyone who knew and loved her.

Charles:

Many of you know, and just as many of you don't, that my niece Olivia died in July 2017 as the result of an epileptic seizure. Olivia was only 21, was the mum of two little girls  and was John and Julie's youngest child and only daughter. We are all bereft from her passing away.
