Story

Sean Macro- a son to Simon and Donna, a big brother to Lily and Liam, an uncle to Charlotte, a friend to so many, a poet, a writer, a true inspiration.

Sadly, Sean lost his battle with his mental health at the age of 30. He could no longer continue fighting the demons he woke to every day. Sean fought for over 15 years and he tried every single day to make the next day better. Despite his own challenges he managed to help so many in similar situations, so naturally that he’d just take it all in his stride, humble and unassuming, oblivious to the life changing impact he had on people.

Eric Robert Nolan captured Sean perfectly when saying:

“I think that he was one of the few truly good souls that I have ever met — for whom kindness and generosity were every bit as natural as breathing. There was a gentleness in him that I have never seen in anyone else. He was far, far too modest to appreciate his own abilities, and consistently overgenerous in his praise of others. He was polite in a way that seemed … old-fashioned, to me, anyway. He sometimes seemed like an anachronism, or a man out of time — like a visitor from some long past generation in which thoughtfulness was the norm, courtesy was the rule, and men and women were truly gentlemen and ladies.

Sean’s gentleness — that rare sensitivity of which he seemed completely unaware — was unique. It makes his loss unique as well.”

Sean will be so missed by so many. We will forever keep his character alive, by sharing his eccentricity, by laughing about his endless clumsy stories, by sharing all of this and more with his niece Charlotte, who managed to bring him undisturbed happiness every time he saw her and whom he adored.

If you’re in the position to, please donate anything you can to CALM in order to raise money in Sean’s name on behalf of anyone who has to fight similar battles on a daily basis. I know my brother always wanted to help wherever and whenever he could, so this is you continuing to do so, Sean.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM run a free and confidential helpline and webchat 7 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who needs to talk about lifes problems.

My brother, I will miss you forever. I hope you’ve found your peace now.

Your little sis,

Lil
