Sponsored Walk · 11 April 2010
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Remember if i get to £350 i promise to do this walk wearing a Rangers Strip.
As most of you know our son Joshua was born in Feb 08 and within two months we were told he was totally deaf in both ears, As you can imagine our lives fell apart on hearing this news, and most of you know i was a major pain in the A**E, we went threw the whole why us, why him, what did we do wrong secenario while all the time being angry at the world. Then thanks to just a random chat with another parent in a soft play area we found out about the West of Scotland Deaf Society, we joined and went along to thier first organised event in Airdrie, if i am honest, i did not want to go and sit and talk to strangers about my feelings and my fears. BUT meeting other parents in the same situation, and seeing these wonderfull kids having so much fun and just getting on with life, somehow gave me great hope for Joshua. We were then invited to a residential weekend for newly identified parents of deaf children, this was one of the hardest weekends of my life, talking about Joshua in a room full of people that i did now know was very hard at first, but hearing all the other parents talking was such a great help in the end. But the turning point came when one of the society's kids stood up at the end and gave a very inspirational speech, when i found out she was a deaf kid with a cochlear implant that was the moment i thought to myself...ok no more self pitty lets just take what comes and enjoy life again, and now Joshua has his implant and life is getting better every day, but without this wonderfull charity i think most of you would still be putting up with that torn face big S**T that i was before we recieved so much support from these guys. Please help me give something back to them.
Thank you...Sean Linda & Kids
