* Small donations  many people  MANY lives changed.

Earlier this year Peter Quinn, a friend of mine, died after a lengthy battle with Cancer.  During that period he and his wife Ange and young family were assisted by Macmillan Cancer Support.  As a Laywer I am perhaps more used to the issue of injustice, but Peter's death struck me as an injustice too far.  I felt that I wanted to do something to raise awareness of the great work of those at Macmillan Cancer Support.  I have decided to trek to Everest Base Camp from the 21 October 2012.  It will take approximately 3 weeks and I hope that you can spare some time to make a donation either through the links on this Page or by sending a cheque to me c/o O'Garras Solicitors, 32 Park Square, Leeds LS1 2PF made payable to "Sean Smith Sponsorship Account".  All donations will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.  As this is my first "date" with Everest, they will only allow me to go to First Base - you can make your own jokes up!

More personally, the following comments are made by Peter's wife Ange........

"...their role is invaluable to patients...."

".....they are the link between pateint and consultant so any, and I mean any questions we had they would ask the doctor then call us right back......"

"....they would  arrange for Peter to be seen in clinic either that day or the day after if he wasn't feeling too good.  They offered emotional support, practical advice and always knew someone to deal with an issue if they did not know themselves........."

".....having someone who could ask a doctor or a consultant something on your behalf was brilliant...."
