We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

So we all know this year has been different, but when the 2020 Great North Run was cancelled, we committed ourselves to running 40 solo runs in 78 days culminating with running the official Virtual Great North Run on 13th September. As many charities have lost out on the £25 million usually raised on the day of the GNR, we still wanted to fundraise and have chosen Guide Dogs.

Meet Ginger, Marley and Sprout! In 24 months they could become a Guide Dog, a Companion Dog or a Buddy Dog helping a visually impaired person gain confidence, mobility and independence; offering friendship and emotional support, increasing physical activity and improving well being; or developing a child's self-confidence, improve relationships and create a sense of fun and trust.

Guide Dogs also offer sighted guides, sensory equipment grants and educational support for children, as well as practical advice and support for individuals and families.

Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.*

Isn't this worth supporting? In the absence of no travel or B&B fees this year we thought we'd start the ball rolling with a donation ourselves. Please support us and do the same if you are able to.

Thank you

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
