As you probably know, running 10km 5 years ago would have probably made me feel sick just thinking about it and i'd only try it if there was a kebab and 10 pints of Guinness at the end of it! However, I've changed my life around and feel the best way to celebrate losing 7 stone is to run around Manchester in the pissing down rain!
I'm doing the run in memory of my gran, Molly, who suffered from Alzheimer's towards the end of her life. Although, i'm doing it in memory of her, i'm doing the run to remember how hard my mum, dad, aunties, uncles and especially my grandad had to work in order to make her life comfortable. I think these people tend to be forgotten when discussing Alzheimers; the people that are effected the most are probably not the victims, but those closest to them. For the final years of her life, these people were dedicated to make her happy and safe. So, my reasoning for giving to the Alheimers Society is the amount of work they do to give relief and support the families of victims.
Also, over the years my brother has climbed kilimanjaro, to base camp at everest and jumped out of a plane for The Alzheimers charity so I felt it was about time I got in on the action.
