Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Parkinsons UK is a cause which is very close to me and my family. 15 years ago my Grandad was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease and since that day we have watched his condition slowly deteriorate. In November of last year he took a fall which saw him break his shoulder and subsequently spend the following 3 months in hospital. During this time in hospital his condition had taken such a turn for the worse that the difficult decision was made that he wouldnt be returning home and is now being cared for in a home. So much of what causes Parkinson’s disease is still unknown and because of that there is currently no cure.

The challenge I have set myself is something which I have been thinking of for some time now...The Megavalanche. Held in July in the Western French Alpes resort of Alpe D'heuz, the race itself is renowned as one of the most challenging mass start mountain bike races in the world.
Starting at 3,300m above sea level on the Glacier of Pic Blanc, the mass start begins on pisted snow then descends 2000m over 30km of unforgiving natural trail down to the valley bottom at Allemont. Its hard on the bike, body and the mind.
