Story
Postponed from April 2020... I am finally preparing to undertake the MdS in April 2022. Labelled "The Toughest Footrace on Earth".... it sounds like one hell of a challenge
The Marathon de Sables (French for Marathon of the Sands), is a six-day, 250 km ultramarathon, approximately the distance of six regular marathons.
Throughout the event, I will be required to carry everything I need... This means I have to carry all food, clothing, medical emergency supplies (including a venom pump!) for 6 days (about 12-13kg at the start).
Why am I doing this....? Some might say very good question!! Well....it is an enormous personal challenge, but more importantly, I am raising money for the fantastic charity, Scope.
Founded in 1952, Scope is a community of disabled and non-disabled people with a shared vision of equality, providing practical advice and emotional support whenever people need them most.
Utilising the collective power of their efforts, Scope aim to change attitudes and end injustice, and they campaign relentlessly to create a fairer society, aiming for "Equality for all"
You'll be able to follow me in the Dessert on Social Media, and I will be making a short film, so you can follow my Journey.. updates to follow!
I hope you will join me in supporting an enormously worthwhile cause, and help me through some tough training days and the 6 days in the Sahara.
