Story

After a decade of rejection and several London Marathon running jerseys and merchandise, I finally got the green light and will be running my first marathon in October 2022. I cannot run and this is a huge personal challenge having spent over ten years cheering on the heroes who participate in these events and being inspired by them, I figured I should find out what it's like to be on the other side of the cheering point.

Child Bereavement UK help children and young people (up to age 25), parents, and families, to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. Child Bereavement UK also provides training to professionals, equipping them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families. As well as working as a fundraiser for the charity I also volunteer at the family support groups and the young peoples groups as well as meeting lots of the young people and families who come to sessions. Giving young people and families the time, resources and confidence to talk about, come to terms with and start rebuilding their lives after often traumatic and difficult bereavements is more than humbling.
