On the 16th & 17th of July 2010 a team from Serco Civil Government's Stockton Office will attempt the National 3 Peaks Challenge.
The National 3 Peaks Challenge is a mountain endurance challenge in which participants attempt to climb the highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales within a single contiguous 24 hour period. The mountains climbed, in order of elevation are Ben Nevis in Western Scotland, 1,344 metres (4,409 ft), Snowdon in North Wales, 1085 metres (3560 ft), and Scafell Pike in North West England, 978 metres (3,209 ft). In all, the challenge involves some 42 kilometres (26 miles) of ascent & descent, with total travel approaching 765 kilometres (475 miles).
The Serco team is made up of climbers of differing levels of experience, all of whom will undertake a range of challenging training expeditions prior to the 3 Peaks Challenge itself.
The Serco 3 Peaks Team will be supported on their challenge by Zenith Leisure (
www.zenithleisure.co.uk)
and will be raising sponsorship funds for the Cleveland Search and Rescue Team (
www.csrt.co.uk).
