Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Madison was just 14 months old when she was diagnosed with leukaemia. We were all so shocked as she has seemed so healthy and full of life. Over the course of the next 18 months Madison was in and out of hospital receiving chemotherapy. In December 2013 we were given great news by her parents, Madison was in remission! However this was not to last and in May 2014 Madison had a stem cell transplant. Initial tests showed that the transplant had taken and despite being in isolation due to the risks of infection Madison remained happy and smiley. The nurses at the Marsden would argue over who got to have her each day as she was such a joy in spite of everything.
Madison got to come home over the summer and had a great time in her play house, visiting family and days out, sadly this did not last. A virus was found in Madison's bloods and needed to be treated so back to the Marsden she and her parents went.
Unfortunately, Madison took a downward turn and dramatically worsened over the course of December 2014 and to all who knew her's absolute horror she passed away in January 2015, leaving a massive hole in her parents and everyone who knew her's lives. She was just 2.5 years old when she passed away.
I am doing this challenge as a tribute to Madison, and if I can show just a half of the grit, determination, positivity and smilyness she showed over the course of her treatment then I will be immensely proud.
The lessons that Madison taught us all will help me through the training and challenge itself. I would love to raise as much money as possible in her memory to fund research and prevent another family going through what Tom and Emily have.
