The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

Hi, my name is Seth Briggs-Williams. I am 14years old and in year 10 at Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech. As part of my Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, I have decided to fundraise money for the Dans Manskell Tennis Trust, a charity that helps people with disabilities play tennis. Last year I could barely play tennis at all due to injury and other setbacks so I know how it feels to miss out on something you love, this is why I have chosen the DMTT charity. With the outbreak of COVID-19, too many people are now unable to play and I want to help those who are struggling.

When coming up with ways to fundraise money, I found out about the 2.6 challenge. It is a challenge involving the numbers 2.6 or 26, and was created because so many charities are losing a lot of funding due to COVID-19 – especially the London Marathon that was meant to take place this Sunday 26th April 2020. I decided this was the challenge for me.

Here is my goal: I am going to do a 260 mile bike ride over the next three days (finishing on the day the London Marathon was meant to happen). This means 86.7 miles a day, or 17 laps around my village. I’ve already completed 50 miles this morning, and a further 37 this afternoon – two more days to go! My goal is to also raise £260 so any support would be greatly appreciated.

About the charity

The Trust raises funds for disabled people who play tennis - wheelchair, deaf, learning disabilities and the visually impaired. Sport can be life-changing for a person with a disability and tennis provides physical wellbeing and social opportunities as well as competition for those who want it.
