On Wednesday 18th July 2018 last year we were given the news that no parent or family should ever have to hear and experience. Our dear little 3-year-old Seth Holder was diagnosed with Cancer.
After 3 weeks of chemotherapy treatment at The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, Seth and his parents Lee & Leanne were transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital where Seth underwent major surgery to rebuild the main artery to his heart and take away one of his kidneys which had been consumed by the cancerous tumour.
Whilst Seth's Journey back to full health has been slow with radiotherapy and further chemotherapy in Bristol and Exeter he has now completed his treatment and life is slowly getting back to some form of normality and the doctors are pleased with his progress.
Throughout this whole horrible process the support Seth and our family have received from CLIC Sargent has been amazing, providing free accommodation in close proximity to the Bristol Children’s hospital as well as giving financial support to help with day today expenses.
We set up a Justgiving page last year https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/supportseth to give something back and have raised just over £10,000 and with this cycling challenge we are hoping to raise a further £2,000 for this marvellous charity. We are not regular cyclists, only two 60 year old grand dads and an uncle who want do their bit and we know 100 miles is not going to be easy and any donation will be gratefully received.
It will be difficult to keep up with thanking everyone individually, so from Gary, Steve and Paul as well as the Holders, Turners and Homewoods, a huge thanks for the donations and continued well wishes and you can be safe in the knowledge that your money will make a huge and real difference to families whose lives will be changed forever and god forbid it never happens to you or anyone in your family.
