Story

Dear friends, thank you for visiting my page.

Our precious rainforests and the wildlife they protect need our help.

That’s where 721 Challenge comes in! I’m attempting to climb the Seven Summits, ski solo the North and South Poles, and row solo across the Atlantic Ocean, all in support of World Land Trust (WLT). WLT is an international conservation charity that protects the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre by acre. This is what Sir David Attenborough has to say about them:

“The money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of.”

Through my work as an expedition leader, I’ve been lucky to travel to some of the most beautiful and remote corners of the world. However, many of these areas are sadly being destroyed at an alarming rate.  Even in the last twenty years, when I returned to certain areas, the change has been devastating. This change is accelerating, and unless we act now, future generations will not be able to enjoy what we have.

When I announced my 721 Challenge record attempt, I had no idea what a huge undertaking it would turn out to be.  But having completed the Seven Summits (Everest in 2019), Skiied solo 1,200km to the South Pole in January 2023, and rowed 5,000km across the Atlantic in February 2024, I'm delighted to announce that the world record feels like it’s in my grasp. To complete 721 Challenge, I need to Ski to the North Pole - I'll be attempting this expedition in April 2024.  Watch this space.

Please join me and support World Land Trust so they can continue their critical mission. Together, we can make a real difference in the world by protecting our vast forests and providing homes for wildlife so we can share our planet in the future. It's amazing to think that WLT (and their global partners) are able to purchase and protect an acre of primary forest for around £100 ($150).  There is no question that protecting our mature forests is one of the most impactful things we can do in the race against climate change.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this page.
