Severfield-Rowen W2W/Swim Challenge 2010 · 7 May 2010

Women are still getting breast cancer and dying from it. That’s why Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer have joined forces to become the UK’s largest dedicated breast cancer research charity. And with your help, together we can put an end to breast cancer, once and for all.

Story

Employees of the Severfield-Rowen Group have experienced breast cancer first hand or via work colleagues and family members.

To help continue the essential work of The Breast Cancer Campaign, on the 7th of May a team of 9 men and 1 woman who work for Severfield-Rowen, set out on the 171 mile W2W cycle challenge. We embarked from Walney Island on the west coast of England and reached our final destination of Whitby on the east coast of England on Sunday 9th May 2010. In addition, on Wednesday 4th August, 10 year old swimming buddies Ben Hamlett and Luke Myers along with 7 year old's Liam Chapman and Ollie Myers broke their attempt to swim 513 lengths of the local 25 meter pool between them in one go (the same amount of lengths multiplied by the number of days that the cyclists are doing their ride over 171miles x 3days = 513 lengths or 12,825 meters or an incredible 8.015 miles!!!!) the boys actually swam a total of 564 lengths or almost 9 miles - awesome!!!!
