WHAT: The Million Meters U19 Men's Team Record is a record of the time it takes for an individual team to row one million meters on a single erg.
We will attempt to break the current U19 Men's Million Meters Large Team World Record of 3 days and 11 hours. Our goal time is three days, between November 24-26, 2017.
WHY: We recognize the privilege of our own education, and understand that schooling changes lives. Without our help, the kids in the Pa Bee Five School community will likely never learn to read, write, and count. That means fewer jobs, less food, and a harsher life. We're all stronger when we're connected, and we know that these children need our help, just as we need yours.
OUR PARTNER SCHOOL: United World Schools built Pa Bee Five School in 2016, and it is in desperate need of support to provide teaching training and additional resources for the new year to continue its development.
The school is in the Mine-Koe District of Eastern Myanmar, in one of the few villages to be inhabited by Akha and Lahu people, the minor tribes of Shan State. With no infrastructure and no education provision, children grow up in these communities unable to speak the national language let alone find work in neighbouring settlements.
For generations these two groups have been marginalised and isolated from the wider population of Myanmar. However, with your help, we can make this change.
Help us row for Pa Bee Five School!
