Juliet died from cancer on 22 February 2011 at the age of only 42 years.

She was truly loved by her family, many friends and colleagues and was an outstanding example to us all.  At the age of 32 she joined the Metropolitan Police Force because she was bored with a 9 to 5 job and in her words wanted do something worthwhile and "make a difference".

Her commendations during her Met career demonstrate her dedication and courage in doing just that. Juliet received 2 commendations during her service.  The first, a Borough Commander’s Commendation,  forbravery, courage and resilience for her part in Policing serious public disorder in Croydon during the European Football Championships in June 2004. The second was an Assistant Commissioners Commendation for professionalism and dedication to duty for her response to the 7/7 bombings. Juliet led a Police unit at Kings Cross Station helping to rescue casualties.

From the time that she was diagnosed with cancer she was fully aware of the terrible implications of the type of cancer that she had and her courage during her illness was unbelievable.  Her two aims were to get back to work in some capacity if she possibly could and to marry her boyfriend.

Through tireless work, knowing that time was short, she arranged her grand wedding in record time.  Time took over and the wedding had to be brought forward, which again she arranged but finally the ceremony had to take place in hospital.  Undaunted Juliet donned her wedding dress and had the most memorable wedding imaginable.

She died only a few hours after the ceremony.

Her courage was such that she had specified the type of funeral she wanted and the charities that she wanted to benefit:

Cancer Research because of the importance of research to find effective treatments and

Macmillan because of the outstanding care and comfort they provide to patients who find themselves in similar circumstances to Juliet. 

Juliet did "make a difference" while in the Met and we hope you will help her to continue to "make a difference" by contributing to these two most deserving charities.

One of the fund raising events that we are planning is a friendly game of football in February 2013 at Imber Court between Croydon and Merton Boroughs. This will bring together many friends and colleagues from the two Boroughs where Juliet worked.

The date is going to be Sunday the 24th February 2013 and once a time for the kick off is agreed, we will announce it here and look forward to your attendance to support these very worthy causes.

Juliet's family hope that the football match will become an annual event and will donate a trophy that can be awarded to the winners each year.
