We have decided to take part in the 10K for Galilee because of their work with the Palestinian youth. The Palestinian youth are the next generation, and they have lived through unimaginable trauma that none of us can fathom. All they require are the tools to facilitate a better life for them in the future. Galilee provides for just that; through their educational scholarship programme.

The Palestinian plight, has impacted us heavier this year, for a multitude of different reasons. Providing donations and raising awareness, in light of the Palestinian's constant struggle for the most basic of human rights, has been something both my husband and I feel very strongly about; but this year we have taken it once step further and want to actually commit our time to help also, in any way we can. So, participating in this 10K it is!!

Education, is a fundamental right for all. It provides an equal footing for all and empowers the Palestinian youth to bring back some control. Education allows for an individual to live freer and provides for a means of escape, escape from the trauma, escape from the hell and an escape to a safe haven where they are allowed to dream again.  A dream that can be now be achievable through the amazing work that Galilee can and will action.

Over the last month Palestine has experienced turbulence and hardship on an extraordinary level. Now more than ever it is vital that we get funding and resources to ordinary Palestinians to help them rebuild their lives and communities. For so many young people the route to a brighter future is through education. Galilee are able to work with their partners in Palestine/Israel to provide higher education scholarships for underprivileged youth. They also help fund workshops and seminars aimed at cultural preservation in the face of so much erosion of Palestinian identity.
