Four years ago I found a career path that combined my love for traveling and technological toys. However, I never quite adjusted to knowing how to deal with life on the road. One day about two and a half years ago while traveling onsite to a client site in east Asia I hopped on a scale finding out that over the course of a year of travelling I had put on a whopping 40+ pounds.
This was a wake up call for me realising that if I wanted to have my cake and eat it too, I was going to have to make some changes. But how does one get in shape and exercise when you spend 90% of your life on airplanes and at hotels without fitness centres? Running. It was the one thing I could do anywhere. The first thing I did was to go out and purchase a new pair of trainers and hit the pavement. Over the course of that first year I lost 20 pounds. However, finding the motivation to run on a daily basis instead of going out with friends and colleagues to socialize began to get a bit dreary. What does one do to motivate them to run? Start signing up for races. Which led to small goals that kept me running even when on the road.
After 2 years I was able to drop nearly all of the 40 pounds I put on. But life changes aren't always as easy for some as putting on a pair of running shoes, Stickler Syndrome affects people of various ages and the only treatment available is surgical, currently there is not a permanent solution to this genetic disorder. Your support will be used to raise awareness of this disorder, promote early diagnosis and prevent blindness in children and adults.
