Children of the world campaign

Dear Family, Friends & Colleagues,

I sincerely express my gratitude for your contribution and support for the success of Bangladesh Tour 2019, I witnessed first hand the amazing projects and rescued a hand full of children from the streets of Dhaka.

I am here again this year to volunteer and seeking for your support for the ‘Children of the World Campaign Bangladesh Tour 2020', led by Muslim Charity to witness and experience first hand how these donations make an invaluable difference to the lives of so many children.

I humbly ask for your generosity and compassion towards this campaign and help provide the chance in life that all children deserve. Please gift aid your donation and please note that your full donation will go towards the projects. I am doing this on a voluntary basis and will fund my own travel and accommodation costs.

The charity is a leading international relief and development Non-Governmental organisation that aims to alleviate the suffering of the world's poorest people. As well as responding to disasters and emergencies, it successfully carries out short and long term development projects – regardless of race, religion or gender.

In the streets of Dhaka, it is estimated 500,000 children are living alone in the streets with no one to provide food, love or shelter. These children are accustomed to being invisible to society, as they are often sexually abused, beaten and trafficked just so they can escape the pangs of hunger.

A contribution of £50 can rescue 2 children off the streets and take them to a transitional shelter with the aim of reuniting with lost family or, alternatively, give the children a permanent and loving shelter. No child deserves to be this helpless and on the streets fending for themselves.

The project and your contribution will also support the following:

Pre-school in the slums of Sylhet - this was set up by the charity with the aim of providing basic education to the children of labourers who are accustomed to working from a young age due to dire financial constraints. Their aim is to provide the basic education for them to go into mainstream education. More importantly, allowing the children to believe they are capable of achieving their dreams.

Daulatdia Brothel - the biggest brothel in bangladesh and the 4th largest in the world. Poverty has forced young women and children into injecting themselves with steroids and becoming prostitutes. It is heartbreaking that there are children born into the brothel and children who witness and clean after each client for their mother. Your generosity will allow us to take the children away from the brothel environment and into the charity’s care centre, where they will be provided with the required help and support they need to get on the right path to succeed in life.

New Library in Moulvibazaar - as part of the Bangladesh project we will be supporting a Sylheti school establishing a new library. Libraries are an essential component of all schools and a community. However, young people in rural villages have very little access if any to books or educational materials. We will be looking to add the finishing touches to the library and formally hand the keys over to the students.
