Story
On the 29th of September a group of fantastic actors will be attempting to perform scenes from Shakespeare's plays at the end of every Shakespeare Road, Avenue, Crescent etc., in the greater London area, in order to raise money for The Globe Players.
The Globe Players are a family-run theatre company who have been taking excellent productions into schools for over 40 years! They perform to all ages. From beautifully crafted traditional fairy stories for infants and juniors, to exciting and entertaining educational shows for primary school children and brilliantly put together Shakespeare shorts designed as learning aides for secondary school children finding out about Shakespeare for the first time - or studying for their exams! (And I’m pretty certain the teachers find them useful as well!)
Children have quite literally grown up watching the Globe Players, and their lives and education have been greatly enhanced as a result.
Three years ago The Globe Players became a charity in a bid to attract more funding, but as we all know in today’s economic climate money is in short supply.
In July 2010 we organised the first Shakespeare - Right Up Your Street! event and thanks to the wonderful actors who gave so freely of their time, and the generous donors who gave so freely of their money it was a great success and we raised over £1,000!
We would love to repeat that success but we need your help. So if you can spare just a little to keep this fantastic company going then , The Globe Players, all the actors involved, and at least ten thousand school kids in and around London will thank you from the bottom of their hearts!
