Campaign by Muscular Dystrophy UK (RCN 205395 (England and Wales) - SC039445 (Scotland))
To help raise awareness and vital funds to support the work of Muscular dystrophy UK into the Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund.

Story

I am taking part in Tough Mudder 2019 to raise awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and to help Muscular Dystrophy UK find a cure.

This charity is very important to me as whilst working in a nursery a little boy I looked after called Somhairle was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, he is such a happy, loving little boy and I would like to help find a cure.

Somhairle was a Paw Patril and Dinotrucks loving boy but on the 17th August 2017 he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Duchenne, which primarily affects boys, is just 1 of 60 known types of muscular dystrophy and is also one of the most severe. Presently there is no viable treatment or cure to stop the progression of this life limiting muscle wasting condition.

It is very common for children with Duchenne to lose the ability to walk before their teens making them wheelchair dependent. As the condition is progressive the loss of further function in the muscle becomes more apparent, eventually affecting the lungs and heart. Duchenne is relentless with 100% fatality rate.

I want to make a different for somhairle and others affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy through the work of Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Please Please Please can you all help raise as much money as we can.

Thanks
