Story
I'm running my first half marathon for Prostate Cancer UK – in honour of my amazing dad🫶🏼, who is currently living with terminal prostate cancer, since late 2020.
Earlier this year, I set myself the challenge of running my first ever official half marathon, which I will finally be running at the London Royal Parks Half Marathon this October. But this isn’t just about crossing a finish line, it’s about setting myself the personal challenge and more importantly doing something that matters greatly to me, for someone who means the world to me.
Over the past few years, he has faced every obstacle thrown at him(during the COVID era too) with strength, courage and an unfailing sense of humour - a true depiction of the dad I have always known, dad jokes included 😉. On top of all the extra medication, jabs, tests, scans and hormone therapy; he's been through multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation - including one he’s undergoing right now. Despite everything, he remains the man who inspires me every single day. My biggest supporter, my role model and always my hero.
This run is for him - and for the thousands of other men and families affected by prostate cancer. I’m raising money for Prostate Cancer UK, a charity that funds vital research, supports patients and is working tirelessly to improve outcomes for men everywhere.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help make a difference. If you’re able to contribute, I’d be incredibly grateful. And if not, a share or a word of encouragement means the world too.
Let’s make this run count - for my dad, and for a future where we can continue to promote awareness and reduce the number of lives that are unfortunately taken by this disease. 💪
Thank you 💙
