Bupa Great Manchester Run 2014 · 18 May 2014 ·
Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
I've decided to enter the Great Manchester 10k run this May to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
I'm doing this because of the reasons below...
One of my closest friends Emma "Happy" Culleton fights this disease daily. Her strength and positivity continually astonishes me even when she has to spend weeks in hospital. She rarely mentions the pain she suffers in fact you can't be around her for 5 minutes without laughing at her banter! One of the funniest women/friend I have the pleasure to have in my life and I just want to put a smile on her face the way she does mine.
Also this is a personal fitness goal for me. My new year's resolution was to make some great memories this year and concentrate on me (cheesy I know). Part of that means being healthier and happier in my own skin. I've been back in the gym 3 times a week for the past 6 week (I’ve bored you with the pics I know) and I already feel the difference. The only thing that niggles at the back of my mind is 'what if I lose motivation'...then I saw the link for this run! This will be first thing in 2014 I can be proud of and that sets the standard for the resolution I made. The fact that I can tie it in with fundraising for a charity that is close to my heart is brilliant.
Furthermore...I do this in memory of Paige Holt. She was taken from my friend and her family far too soon because of this disease. My thoughts will be with this gorgeous girl and her family during the race. Hopefully a cure will be found soon and no one else will have to suffer as they have due to Cystic Fibrosis.
Wish me luck and thank you for donating!
Shar xx
