At Wetwheels we ensure everyone can access the water with a safe, barrier-free, enriching experience. Every pound raised is vital to ensure we can welcome as many disabled people onboard as possible, with their families, friends and carers, providing life-changing experiences.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi all.....After swimming 2 miles in the Swim Serpentine event in Hyde Park last year,  the Wetwheels Foundation asked me if I would like to take part in the Great South Run, a 10 mile run around Portsmouth and the Historic Docks. I agreed!!  I love a challenge and even more so for this amazing charity.

Please take a few minutes to read this......

As many of you will know I first heard of Wetwheels at an after dinner speech. I have since followed this wonderful charity and have now witnessed their amazing commitment to all the people who benefit from their amazing work and dedication when they spent a week in Sovereign Harbour Eastbourne taking young people out on their boat.

The after dinner speech was made by Geoff Holt.

Geoff Holt MBE was a professional yachtsman with many ocean crossings under his belt until he was paralysed in a swimming accident in 1984. Today he commits much of his life to championing disability awareness and engaging others in the training and development of the disabled and able-bodied to help them attain their full potential whether in sporting or other endeavours and to inspire everyone he touches to recognise and harness those innate qualities in themselves.

Feel free to read more about this wonderful cause and if you can spare a few pounds I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thank you

Sharon x

Wetwheels was founded with a guiding principle to provide access to the sea for all disabled people at the best possible value for money and in a manner that is open to all.At the core of our organisation are our boats and our people who deliver our activities. Our people are a mix of paid staff and volunteers. All undergo Disability Awareness Training in a Maritime Context. We have developed this bespoke training from the learning of our activities and the experience of our team.
