Story
Hi Friends and Family,
We are once again raising money for Camp
Simcha. Following on from their ‘Conquer the Canyon’ campaign – hiking through
the Grand Canyon in 2016, we are joining their trek through Yosemite National Park
and Death Valley to raise much needed funds for children with life threatening
illnesses.
Walking through the Grand Canyon was a good
taster course, but this challenge will prove to be taking it to the next level.
Over the course of 4 days at the end of April we will be visiting Death Valley,
the hottest, driest National Park in the USA, climb to the top of the Upper
Yosemite falls, pass through 3 cascading waterfalls and be sleeping in canvas
tents each night.
With your generous donations, last time we
aimed to raise £6,000 and managed ultimately to raise a total of £7,900. As the
challenge taken on is tougher, the goal has also risen in line and this time we
are aiming with your help to raise £10,000 for Camp Simcha. We plan to cover
our costs to ensure that all donations will go directly to Camp Simcha’s
amazing work.
Camp Simcha provides a range of practical
and emotional support services to families coping with serious childhood
illness When a child is diagnosed with a serious or life-threatening
illness the whole family’s world is shattered. It is not just the child and
their parents who are impacted, but also siblings, grandparents and
extended family as overnight their world changes and ‘normal’ family life
is wiped out. This is where Camp Simcha steps in with their wide range of
over 20 practical, emotional and therapeutic support services which are
specifically designed to help put families back together again. Camp
Simcha has 13 family liaison officers delivering 8,500 hours of
care per year to 1,000 family members they directly support. Their
services impact the lives of over 8,000 children throughout the UK.
