My story is about my husband Steve who sadly lost his fight against cancer last August and I lost the most wonderful person I have ever known.

He was diagnosed with lung cancer in April of last year and although he was told the cancer was inoperable and terminal he accepted all treatment that was offered to him. He went through 12 weeks of gruelling chemotherapy to no avail and we were then told he only had weeks to live. Even then he did not complain or get angry he just wanted us to make the most of the short time we had left.

His wish was for his end of life to be at home, with dignity and with his family all around him. Without the help and support of The Rowans Hospice and the MacMillian Nurses we could not have managed to keep Steve at home.

Sadly he slipped away on the 24th August 2011 at home with the family he loved at the age of 52, just 20 weeks after diagnosis. I cannot thank The Rowans enough for all they did for Steve and for what they are still doing for me at this very difficult time.

Steve is still here in so many ways and he will forever be in my heart.

I just want to raise as much money as I can to help the Hospice continue with the fantastic support they provide for all patients and their families.
