3 in 5 of us at some point in our lives will become an unpaid carer for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability or mental ill health, cannot cope without our support.
Many of those in a caring role don't consider themselves carers, its just something they do. To give you an idea of our very different carers, the youngest carers registered with us are just 5 years old.
At the opposite end of the age range, one of our older carers is 95 years old, with their own health problems and also caring for their spouse who has Dementia and Cancer. Our purpose as a local charity is to make a better life for all of our unpaid carers and there are thousands in the Blackpool area alone.
Many juggle, work, education, their own health needs and other commitments with their caring role and most don't think of themselves as carers, nor realise the range of services available to help them.
