I am taking part in the Great North Swim to raise funds for North West Air Ambulance  this is a charity funded service that does not receive any Government or NHS funding. It provides life saving support  across the Nort West of England. As  Registered Nurse I have seen first hand how important this service plays in saving life, getting patients to a hospital for urgent life saving treatment is so important.
