Story
Lockdown has come with many challenges, worries and anxieties for many. An unprecedented and uncertain time for all. It has been a particularly difficult time for me and my family, dealing with the sad, sudden loss of our Grama during all this craziness.
At the end of March, Grama was rushed into hospital following a short spell of confusion and diagnosed with lesions on the brain and sadly passed away two weeks later at home.
With lockdown restrictions in place, unfortunately I was unable to say my final goodbyes. A few days later Grampa was rushed into hospital with an infection. Fortunately for him, the infection was treated and he was discharged home a week later.
To deal with the sudden loss of Grama and the worry of supporting Grampa whilst restrictions remained in place, for my own mental health and well-being, I decided to set myself a challenge: to run 5 kilometres every day for 80 days. 400 kilometres in total. I have chosen to undertake 80 runs in memory of Grama’s 80 years of life.
I will therefore be raising money for Swansea Bay University LHB Charitable Fund and Other Related Charities due to the compassionate care they provided Grama and Grampa during these difficult times. The money raised will be split equally between the seven local health board charitable fund in Wales, plus Velindre and Welsh Ambulance Service.
