For my charity fundraiser this year, I knew that I had to do something to support my beloved theatre industry in this time of crisis. As a result, over the next six weeks, I will be hosting an eBay jumble sale, releasing a downloadable craft book, and hosting an online theatre quiz to raise money for Acting for Others.

Acting for Others is a charity that provides financial and emotional support to all theatre workers in times of need through their 14 member charities.

At this difficult time for all, the theatre industry needs our support more than ever. With the closure of theatre, tens of thousands of theatre workers across the UK are facing unemployment and financial uncertainty for a number of months.

My target is £500, but I'm hoping we can raise a little more than that.

The first event I’ll be hosting is an online car boot sale of almost all of my theatre memorabilia. If you’d like to see what’s for sale, you can check it out at the link to the eBay store in the updates below. The sale will run from Monday May 25th to Sunday May 31st. All items are posted to the shop by request, so if you are looking for anything, please drop me a message over on Twitter (@shaunycat) and I’ll see what I can do.

The second event I'll be hosting is the release of a craft book written by myself and my friend Em Jenkins. Packed full of stagey crafts, makes and bakes, the book will be available to download on Etsy from Wednesday June 17th until Sunday June 28th. All proceeds from the sale of the book will be put onto this page on the 29th.

And my third and final event will be a huge theatre quiz, featuring musical numbers and a whole host of guest presenters, streaming live on my YouTube channel at 7pm on Wednesday June 24th. Attendees will be encouraged to support the cause by donating to this page.

Our lives thrive thanks to culture, whether people choose to ignore that fact or not. Theatre is at the heart of the British cultural landscape and economy. To let it fall at the hands of a health pandemic and poor government spending is unfathomable. Let’s save theatre together.
