A page for those taking part in Virgin Money London Marathon for Sense - the national charity that supports people with complex communication needs, to be understood, connected and valued.

Story

For my charity event this year, I thought I'd really push myself to the limits, and what greater challenge is there than the London Marathon? When looking for a charity to run the race with, I came across Sense.

Sense is a charity that believes that no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, should be isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential.

Their experts offer personalised support through their centres, holidays and short breaks, or in people’s own homes. They are here for everyone who needs them, for as long as they need them – providing early intervention for children, helping young people access education, and supporting the transition into adulthood and beyond.

Sense's work is heavily with children who are deafblind. As somebody whose entire life revolves around experiencing art both visually and aurally, the thought of being deafblind would be life changing beyond words. I share Sense's passion to help children get the most out of life, no matter how complex their experience.

My fundraising goal of £1700 is the amount of money needed to provide a family with a dedicated carer for an entire year. I'd love to be able to do that for them.

As most of you may know, I am hardly a runner to begin with, so the thought of doing the London Marathon is daunting to say the least. I've been training for a while now and that's going well for me, but naturally, some added encouragement would be lovely. Any donations you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be sure to share more about my training journey in the coming weeks, along with information about fundraising events I'll be doing to add to this total in the lead up to the big day. April 28th is going to be a big day and I'd love for you to come on this journey with me.

Thank you in advance.
