Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Saul Trickett Lesotho 2018 - Coast and Castles bike ride from Newcastle to Edinburgh, 200 miles in three days.

St Bernards Catholic High School in Rotherham have an ongoing trip each year out to Lesotho where they help a local school upgrade their facilities. Over the years they have helped the locals create vegetable patches,  get water to the site, do various activities with the kids and local community.

Next year when they go they plan to upgrade the girls toilets along with various other ideas still in planning, the kids are all doing their own fund raising to try and raise enough money to fund the upgrades.

My son Saul is 13 and has volourntered to go out there along with 25-30 other students from St Bernards.

Although our children are going out there to help the children of Lesotho, the trip is also a educational trip, life changing trip for our kids to camp out there with minimal home comforts, no mobile phones or play stations with the intention to make a difference.

Bit about me, I am 43 and have not been on a bike since I was a teenager, one of my work colleagues has done the coast to coast with a bunch of friends over the last couple of years. Each year I have been really tempted to ask if I could join them but shyed out. My son Saul has never learned to ride a bike so I have challenged him by saying that I will do the challenge this year if he learns to ride a bike and joins me next year. The challenge was set about six weeks ago, I have bought bikes for both myself and Saul and the training has begun, I have only been out a handful of times but I am slowly starting to get into the swing of things. The furthest I have Rode in one outing is 21 miles and I need to get to 70 mile per day by June the 21st. (I was laid up for a week with a bad back following one bike ride, think I had my seat too high or   Handle bar too low, any excuse I could think of, nothing to do with me being old........LOL). As you can see for me this is quite a challenge and I would really appreciate any donation you can spare. For me the brave one is Saul for giving up his holidays and home comforts for two weeks and going out to Lesotho to make new friends, hopefully change the lifes of others. It's not just the two week trip it's giving up all their spare time until they go undertaking charity work and coming up with fund raising ideas.

Thank you for taking time to read and hopefully I can make it to Edinburgh for a few deserved beers.
