Story
Ten years ago, our eldest son, Jacob, came into the world at just 25 weeks, weighing a tiny 2lb. Watching him fight through those early days and grow into the healthy, fantastic 10 year old he is today was our first miracle. Then, on May 13th, 2026, when his baby brother, Freddie, was born 10 weeks early, weighing 3lb 5oz.
This turned our world upside down again. Nothing prepares you for seeing your newborn in a neonatal unit, surrounded by monitors and wires.
For seven straight weeks, my wife, our 10-year-old son Jacob, and I travelled back and forth to the hospital every single day. It was an incredibly tough time for our family, but Freddie proved to be a absolute warrior. He fought through every hurdle and amazed us all with his strength.
So me and my wife Holly will be Walking 60 miles each in September is our way of celebrating Freddie’s journey from a fragile 3lb 5oz baby to an 8lb champion and on going, thanking the incredible NHS staff who looked after him, and supporting other families facing similar challenges.
Thank you so much for your support. 💙
Every year, around 1 in 7 babies born in the UK are admitted to a neonatal unit. For families, this can be a frightening and uncertain time.
Bliss provides vital support to those families, campaigns for better neonatal care and works to improve outcomes for babies born premature or sick, helping every baby have the best possible chance of survival and quality of life.
If you're able to sponsor me, every donation—big or small—will help Bliss continue supporting babies and families when they need it most.
