We fund community projects in South India to improve education and quality of living

Story

Life is always about making the best of what you have,
and having personally overcome many challenges, a chronic illnesses and adversity in my life. I count myself lucky and feel grateful to be alive and live in a country where education is free. This is why I have chosen to raise money for Indian Futures please see charity description below. My plan is to run The Arc of Attrition Ultramarathon.  The Arc is a point-to-point extreme coastal race from Coverack to Porthtowan taking in 100 miles of stunning and dramatic Cornish Coastpath with competitors running in challenging winter conditions. Runners will complete an Arc around the entire south west foot of Cornwall.  The race has a strict 36 hour cut-off with additional checkpoint cut-offs on route. With checkpoints approximately 20 miles apart, competitors will need the ability to be self-sufficient for long periods of time. If you want to help then please donate what you can.

Indian Futures has been created to help improve the standards of living of both rural and urban communities in South India. We support educational, health, women's empowerment and other community development projects. More than anything, we want our projects to have a real impact on the lives of the people we work with. We want South Indian communities to flourish, not just by covering basic needs but by providing our beneficiaries with the necessary tools towards their own growth and self-development.'

Money you raised will go towards providing computers and hiring and training IT teachers for 19 after-school support centres in Vedanthangal and Vandavasi, two rural areas in Tamil Nadu, about 50 miles South West of Chennai, the state's capital city. The areas have a population of around 14,000 inhabitants, 70% of whom belong to the Dalit caste (formerly known as the Untouchables), the poorest and most discriminated caste in India.
