Moonlight & Memories Walk · 1 June 2013
Both Caroline and I will be taking part in the Moonlight & Memories Walk which is 13.1 miles to raise valuable funds for St Catherine’s Hospice in Lostock Hall.
Like us many people have had either first-hand experience or know someone who is coping with an incurable condition, below are just a few things about the hospice.
St Catherine’s is an adult hospice for people from Chorley, Longridge, Preston and South Ribble.
Not only do they provide ‘end of life’ care to people that are living with conditions such as Cancer, Heart Failure, Motor Neurone Disease and Parkinson’s Disease, they also offer individually tailored care which is free of charge to meet each person’s individual needs.
Family support is given to the patient, family and loved ones to help adjust to the challenges that they face and to offer support through the distress and frustration that is experienced.
In 2012/13 it will cost £4.9m to run the hospice’s services - a massive 72 per cent of which has to be raised through charitable support, with the remainder provided through the NHS.
The hospice provide specialist nurses along with psychological support to people at home, and at both in-patient and day therapy units.
Please donate as much or as little as you can afford so we can show our appreciation and support to such a worthwhile charity.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
