Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024 · 13 October 2024 ·
Running a (half) marathon for charity has always been on my bucket list and doing it for the CF trust was the best place to start.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system. It affects more than 10,800 people in the UK, many of which are children. It makes them particularly more vulnerable to chest infections.
These infections can be really serious. It's common for people with CF to spend weeks in hospital several times a year for intravenous antibiotic treatment and monitoring. Infection can cause the lung function of someone with CF to drop to far lower than that expected in someone with fully functioning lungs.
These children did not choose to have this condition, but unfortunately it is something they have to go on to battle for their entire lives.
The money will go towards funding vital research, advocating for and supporting patients and families, and assisting with NHS clinical staff to improve care.
I would be very grateful for any support!
