We are Ashton Hiking Club, formed in May 2020 it has quickly grown through word of mouth and currently we have over 100 active members. 

Originally we had planned to participate in the Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge on Easter Sunday (4th April 2021). However due to Covid restrictions this has been put back to Sunday 29th August.

As the team were already fully prepared, just for fun 35 members of Ashton Hiking Club completed a 45km 3 peak challenge, Marsden to Edale on Easter Sunday. This was no easy task as some of the members had only started Hiking only 4-6 months earlier.

Our second challenge as part of the fundraiser was to participate in the Manchester 10km Tough Mudder, again Covid intervened (Etihad site being used for Covid testing) and this was postponed. Undeterred we have now upped our game and are now planning to do the 10 Mile Yorkshire Tough Mudder Challenge. 

Both of these will be epic group challenges and we wanted to do an epic fundraiser to go with this. We have teamed up with the Human Appeal Charity hoping to  raise enough money (In Sha Allah) to help build a school in Pakistan. 

We will now also be joined by some members of the recently formed Ashton Ladies Hiking Club. The main aim of this group for this summer, is to summit either Scafell and or Snowdon. This will be a massive achievement considering majority of the group had no previous hiking experience. Don't underestimate these fearless sisters as they are quickly gaining knowledge and experience of the outdoors. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if a few from this group will go on and become mountain leaders, In Sha Allah. 

Human Appeal currently have projects working on Solar Water Wells in this area and we'd to compliment this by helping to improve educational facilities. We truly believe education is the key in helping a community to help itself get out of poverty and become self sufficient.
