We help families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them

Story

Me and my dad have decided to do a charity bike ride for Clic Sargent. We will be cycling approximately 50 miles, starting at Weston Park Hospital, down past Sheffield Children’s Hospital and finishing at Leeds Children’s Hospital on the 15th July.

Clic Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people. They aim to provide VITAL support for anyone under 25 with cancer as well as their families. Today, 11 more children and young people will hear the devastating news that they have cancer. From diagnosis, CLIC Sargent’s specialist care teams will step in, ready to help, support, and guide. They provide a tailored package of support for each young person which they help.

We know first hand how amazing Clic Sargent is. In 2016, at the age of 17 my girlfriend was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Germ Cell Cancer. During her treatment she received amazing support from Clic Sargent, and she still continues to receives support today, and without this in place she wouldn’t have been able to deal with this devastating news. She is now a part of the Young People’s Reference Group at Clic Sargent which helps to support her and others in order to gain confidence, build vital life skills and live a post cancer life.

Please help us to raise money so they can continue this amazing work and help improve the lives of young people when cancer has affected it.

Here’s a little insight into what your money can do, just remember every little helps, no matter how small or large, your donation is greatly appreciated!

£2.50 could pay for a copy of
CLIC Sargent’s magazine ‘Shout Out!’ for children aged seven to 13 – supporting them during and after treatment and helping them feel less isolated.

£4 could pay for one copy of a
CLIC Sargent storybook that explains childhood cancer in a simple, easy to understand language - putting cancer into words and illustrations which children can relate to. These are an important way of helping children understand what’s happening to them.

£8 could pay for a copy of ‘What Now?’ CLIC Sargent’s new booklet to help parents and carers whose child has just been diagnosed with cancer to understand how it may affect them.

£15 could pay for a copy of CLIC Sargent’s DVD to help families where a child or young person has passed away due to cancer in order to help come to terms with, understand and cope with their grief.

£46 could pay for a CLIC Sargent Social Worker to be there soon after diagnosis, giving a family one-to-one support.

£170 could pay for a CLIC Sargent grant to help stop cancer costs spiralling out of control in what can be an extremely testing time.

Thank you all so much,

Robbie & Andy
