Sheffield 10k 2022 · 25 September 2022 ·
The Sheffield Tribology research group and supporting staff are planning to walk/jog/run the Sheffield 10k on the 25th September 2022 to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation and to remember a Sheffield tribologist, Dr Marcello Cadeddu, who passed away due to a congenital heart defect in 2018.
We are encouraging all who have an interest in the cause to help us by donating what you can and if brave enough, to join us on the run.

Interested in joining us as a participant?
This is a great opportunity to challenge yourself physically whether that is through walking the route for fun or attempting a personal best. Whatever your reason, we are encouraging anyone with an interest in the cause, tribology or running to join in.
Between us, we cover all abilities of running from those who have never done a run all the way up to elite level. It is possible to walk the route in the allowed timeframe so you really can challenge yourself as much as you wish.
1. You can enter the race here: https://www.runforall.com/events/10k/sheffield-10k/
The event costs £33 to enter. We have put our bib names as 'Tribology' but you can put whatever you like.
2. Contact Oliver Spenceley to be added as a participant on the page and for any other queries, Email: ospenceley1@sheffield.ac.uk, Re: Sheffield Tribology10k
3. In addition to running the event, we are encouraging all participants to take on the further challenge and raise £50 each for the BHF though this is not a necessity
How this came about
We identified the Sheffield 10k as a great way to challenge ourselves and do something fun to remember our time here. As the interest in the group developed, we decided to try and raise some funds along the way. Some of the senior members who were in the group when Marcello worked on his PhD suggested we do this in his memory and support the BHF. This event will compliment the fundraising event which they organised in 2019.

British Heart Foundation
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but there are still hundreds of people losing their lives.
With the kind and generous donations the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps. If you are able to give what you can to help us hit our target we would be very grateful.
