Story

We both volunteer at Growing Well near Kendal.
Growing Well is designed to provide a safe space for people who have mental health problems to benefit by being part of a horticultural project.
Growing Well has a 6 acre site which grows organic fruit and vegetables for a weekly crop share scheme (100 crop shares), as well as marketing produce through a variety of local outlets.
Growing Well works on the principle that meaningful mental and physical activity are both vital components of good mental health. They want everyone to feel that they have, and can fulfil, a purpose in the world.
"I think it just brings you out of your illness because you spend so much time in your head cut off from the world ..... you step out of your own problems and out of your own head and see the world again."
The last 18 Covid months have been very tough, but Growing Well has survived and is once again beginning to thrive.
