Dry 2016 · 31 December 2016

Students from under-resourced backgrounds are three times less likely to make it to a top university than peers from more advantaged backgrounds. We support these students to access top universities through bespoke mentoring, skills-building coaching, tuition, and enrichment activities.

Story

Last year, I took part in Dry January 2015. It was a difficult month, but it flew by. This year, I am taking part in Dry 2016 and will be abstaining from alcohol for the entire year (with no exceptions). I am fundraising for a UK based charity called The Access Project.

The vision of The Access Project is that every child in the UK should have an equal opportunity to achieve their academic ambitions. The Access Project combats the inequality within our current educational system through the use of volunteer tutors to help motivated state school students access top universities.

Less affluent students are under-represented at top universities. There has been NO improvement in this over the last ten years. Let's address the blatant inequality within our educational system, so as to ensure that those same children are provided with an equal opportunity to pursue the career / life of their choice when the time comes. Any donation regardless of the amount would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
