Story
Hey Guys Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In June, myself and 10 other volunteers from Nottingham Trent University will be flying to Sri Lanka to volunteer in an Orphanage called the Rosie May Home. The home was built in memory of Rosie May to provide a shelter and food for ophans affected by the 2004 Tsunami.
The Rosie May Memorial Fund is a registered UK charity and was founded in January 2004 in response to overwhelming donations from the public following the murder of Rosie May the only daughter of Graham & Mary Storrie. Immediate funds went to Sheffield Paediatric Intensive Care Unit which gave Rosie May very special care during the last precious 48 hours of her short life.
In December 2004 the family decided Christmas at home would be unbearable without their daughter who especially loved this time of year. So they decided to escape with their two sons from the horrific recollections of the year before. On Boxing Day their paradise island in the Indian Ocean was engulfed by the 2004 Asian Tsunami.
“We were humbled by the bravery of the Sri Lankan people… the enormity of death, devastation and destruction touched everyone’s lives. Our personal experience of witnessing this tragedy inspired the Rosie May Home for Tsunami Orphans and abandoned girls”.
