We fund research, campaign and support to stop people dying of bowel cancer

Story

As many will know, I was a major sufferer of Ulcerative Colitis for many years before an emergency operation in August 2011 to remove my large bowel. I was given an Ileostomy as part of this which meant wearing a bag. A subsequent operation followed in Jan 2012 to remove the remaining section and I am now left with a permanent stoma & bag. After years of illness/ops & recovery this is my biggest challenge to date. I have never been able to push my body before and now I want to know what I can achieve. I also want to show that life doesn't stop just because you have a stoma! My fabulous boyfriend Mike is completing the challenge with me, he has supported me through all the ops and will now do this!

I have chosen Beating Bowel Cancer as I work for them and know what great work they do in helping to save lives, spread awareness and support those affected by the second biggest cancer killer in the UK. Early diagnosis is key as 90% of cases can be successfully treated when caught early. I am very passionate about bowel related diseases/cancers and ensuring early diagnosis as well as encouraging people to break the taboo and talk about their bums!
