Story
As some of you may have heard I have finally got around to acting on a drunken promise made over one too many beers approximately six years ago by entering a long distance triathlon, or to use its more common moniker, an Ironman. To the uninitiated this means a gentle days exercise consisting of a 3.8km dip followed by a pleasant yet rolling 180km bike ride with a relaxing marathon to finish, making sure all those muscles have had a chance to warm down properly!!
Realising that pride alone wouldn't be enough to get me through the 13 hours plus of constant exercise I came to the conclusion that an additional source of inspiration would be needed. As a result I have committed to raising as much money as I possibly can for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
The Starlight Children's Foundation is a charity that brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes and providing entertainment in hospitals and hospices. All of Starlight's activities are designed to distract children from the pain, fear and isolation they can often feel as a result of their illness. This year alone Starlight will help 500,000 children.
Of course any donation will be gratefully received, although the bigger the donation the more grateful I will be!!
