Team Faichney's Lomond Hills Regional Park 3 Peaks

Lomond Hills Regional Park 3 Peaks · 1 August 2020
On 6th December 2018 I had the privilege of watching our first grandchild come into the world. The most beautiful little girl with a mop of curly red hair. But we had been warned to prepare ourselves as 6 weeks earlier her Mummy and Daddy had received the heartbreaking news that Lillie had broken her leg while still in the uterus and it appeared she might have a problem with her bones, and possibly not survive the birth. A fighter from day one, despite breaking her other leg during birth, she came into the world safely, and looked perfect in every way.
At 3 months old it was confirmed that Lillie has Osteogenesis Imperfecta, type 3, meaning her bones were significantly fragile. Despite further bone breaks and hospital stays and treatments, Lillie has blossomed into the most wonderful little girl with a wild energy, a curiosity for everything, and a solid determination. In recent weeks, at only 17 months old, she has amazed everyone by starting to stand up. Sadly, that head strong determination has led to another break in her femur this weekend, and once again she is hospitalised having traction to help her leg heal. Due to coronavirus restrictions we cannot visit Lillie in hospital, we cannot comfort her, we cannot help her parents. This is heartbreaking. We feel so useless and feel we need to do something positive to try to help so we would like to fundraise for the Brittle Bone Society.
The Brittle Bone Society has been such an invaluable source of information and support for Lillie and her parents that as a family we want to help raise money for their outstanding work. On 1st August (covid permitting... we’re aiming for August as it’s likely restrictions for hill walking will be cleared by then) we will be walking the 3 peaks circuit of the Lomond Hills regional park in Fife; Starting at Holl reservoir and hiking to Bishop Hill, then to West Lomond hill, then East Lomond Hill, and returning back to Holl reservoir. The walk is about 25km, with a gain of about 650m. Younger family members, and hopefully Lillie, health permitting, will join us for the final 5km.
If you are able, a modest donation to help us reach our target, will go a long way to helping this amazing charity help Lillie, other children like her, and their families.
Thank you. x
