Shirley’s story
I am running the 10k for the Stroke Association, why? Because I can, many would love to take up this challenge but can’t because they have been struck down by a stroke. There are more than 100,000 strokes each year that is one stroke every 5minutes. There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK.
My father was one of the lucky ones and went on to live 11 happy years. My dear Auntie Pam courageously deals with it one day at a time, for Mark, my tap dancing friend’s husband, it is massively life changing, in his 50s and with everything to look forward to he had a massive stroke. His life and that of his family has been turned upside down.
On the day I run , it will be 100 days to the day that Mark had his stroke but against all odds with the wonderful care of doctors, and help from family, friends, and last but not least the Stroke Association, his future is looking brighter and positive.
Arvind’s story
I am running this Marathon in memory of my late cousin
Deepak Beekawoo ,a young entrepreneur and late my uncle Suresh Fallee, an electrical engineer and a prominent politician. They both lost their lives at a young age, leaving behind their families and friends. I have learned a lot from my two icons , Deepak and uncle Suresh have inspired me to pursue my career in engineering and entrepreneurship, and to help others in my society .
Therefore, funds are needed to support this wonderful charity they
can’t do it alone.
