Shoaib Rawat died suddenly on 29 September 2008.

The loss of Shoaib left his family devastated and his many friends and colleagues shocked and saddened. Shoaib was a wonderful, sincere and unique person. Known for his wit, his talent, drive and enthusiasm for architecture was admired by many. Those fortunate enough to know him loved Shoaib for his sense of humour and admired him for his character. Those that missed this opportunity have lost a chance to know one of the most promising and vital individuals we have known.

In remembrance of Shoaib, an annual award for a student of architecture at University of Westminster has been set up. His friends and family have contributed to the fund to establish the prize. It is a fitting tribute to one whose loss remains keenly felt.

We are very pleased to let you know that in June 2010 the inaugural Shoaib Mahmad Rawat awards were presented to four 2nd year Graduate Diploma of Architecture students at the University of Westminster. Thank you to all those who contributed to phase one of this campaign which raised over £9,000 to make these awards possible. Please help us continue these prizes in memory of Shoaib.
