Story
We hear the statistics that surround Domestic Violence throughout Australia all too often, but we rarely hear about what is happening in our own community.
Did you know that last year there were 454 reported incidents of Domestic Violence related assaults in the Shoalhaven? As many victims of Domestic Violence do not come forward, we are frightened to think just how much higher this number could be.
SAHSSI 30 is a wonderful community event, now in its 4th year, which aims to raise awareness of women’s homelessness and domestic violence in the Shoalhaven while at the same time raising much needed funds for SAHSSI Shoalhaven.
SAHSSI 30 is a community-driven event that has grown out of one person’s vision to make a positive change for women and children in her local community. That vision has developed into an annual walk, which has been supported by over 150 participants and raised over $35,000 for SAHSSI Shoalhaven to date.
This August the Shoalhaven Family Law team will be taking part in the SAHSSI 30, to raise awareness of women’s homelessness and domestic violence in the Shoalhaven, and much needed funds for the Nowra women’s refuge.
