New York Marathon · 3 November 2013

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you are aware I ran the Paris marathon earlier this year and I am hoping to emulate this by running the New York marathon on the 3rd November.

Whilst putting myself through the pain, I thought I might as well raise some money for a charity that is close to my heart and so I am raising money for Parkinsons as my father is currently suffering from the disease.

Parkinsons is a progressive neurological condition which essentially means that the conditions gets worse over time.  The devastating thing is that there is currently no cure for this awful disease which is why research into finding a cure is so important.  Those that suffer from Parkinsons are 2 to 6 times more likely to develop Dementia than the general population and unfortunately my father is in that statistic.  Details of Parkinsons can be found on their website www.parkinsons.org.uk.

So, if you can spare any money at all, however small, to assist  research for a cure for Parkinsons, I would be very grateful for your donation.

Thank you very much indeed.

Shona
